Galiano Island

This past weekend our friends took us to Galiano Island. They have a house right by the ocean and have 21 acres of forest so there is lots of wildlife. We saw deer, rough-skinned newts, tree frogs, river otters, and seals. The deer were around the property and the forest, the otters were down on the rocks by the ocean, and the frogs and newts were in the forest. When we were driving back to the ferry terminal on the last day it was raining and apparently the newts were migrating. There were tons crossing the road! Whenever we saw them we would jump out of the car to pick them up and move them off the road. One of the newts we rescued was a tiny baby only about 3 centimetres long! Hopefully most of the newts made it. We had lots of fun and will be going back to Galiano for Thanksgiving with other friends, we can't wait!

Canucks vs Rangers

Canucks: 5 Rangers: 0
Last night we went to a Canucks game. There was lots of goal scoring and churro eating, and we won! It was really fun especially when the Canucks scored because it was really loud and and everyone was cheering.

Frogs

Virginia and I love frogs. We think they are so cute and funny looking. We have lots of ditches in our neighbourhood and they are full of frogs. Today while coming back from a bike ride I saw a whole bunch of frogs in a large puddle filled with lots of algae/duckweed. Most of the frogs went under the water when they saw me, but one stayed up and I was able to pick him up and hold him. Every once in a while he would jump out of my hand and back into the water but I was always able to catch him again. After a couple of minutes I decided to let him be and I put him back into the water. I wonder if we will be able to catch him again.

Back to School...

This morning we got up early because we had to go to school. School was only an hour today but it will be normal tomorrow. We find out who our teachers are on Friday. We have to wait that long!! We will miss summer. We are both counting down for November now when we go to Turks and Caicos!

Picnic on the boat

Yesterday we decided to have a picnic on our boat. We drove up-river to some log booms where we tied the boat up and had lunch. After we finished eating, we had some leftover bread so we threw some pieces into the water. Soon we had a whole flock of gulls flying overhead and diving into the water. Once the gulls flew off, we relaxed in the boat before driving out towards the ocean. The water was quite choppy though, so we turned around. Before turning around though, we noticed a whole bunch of seals lounging on some log booms. They were so cute! On the way back a few jet skis zoomed by us, but it felt like they were chasing us. We had lots of fun on the boat and will hopefully go back on it soon.
